Rebate & Savings Apps

I am slightly obsessed with rebate and cash back apps - they are a big part of my monthly budget, plus I find them fun - it is like a game to me. How many points can I earn?!?!?

Here is a breakdown of my favorites. I use about 7 of rebate type of apps - often before I make a purchase, I will take the time and compare all the apps before I decide which to use based on who will give me the most cash back. Then, I top it off with credit card rewards.

**Keep in mind this is 100% my own personal opinion**

#1 Ebates:
I love to use Ebates, I prefer to use it on my computer over the phone app. However, both work fine. I personally find using the Ebates chrome extension on my computer is much easier and I never forget! Plus it helps me find promo codes, I don't have to google search promo codes. They also have some choices for in-store cashback as well, as long as you have your card on file. If you are not familiar with Ebates - largely if you shop online - most places will have a rebate with Ebates.  They send out 4 Big Fat Checks a year (that is what they call them), Every quarter you can have your earnings mailed to you in a check or auto paid out to PayPal.
  • TIP: if you want/need it today - shop placed where you can select "instore pickup". (Ex. target, best buy, and so many others)
  • If you haven't signed up - Feel free to use my referral link: Once you spend at least $25 you will get a $10 referral bonus: https://www.ebates.com/r/HMOORE101?eeid=28187

#2 Ibotta:
This one is a close or a tie for #1 in my book! I use this one often and for years. If you used Ibotta a few years ago and didn't like it, you should try it again they have made a lot of updates. You not only can get cash-back from grocery shopping, but many online sites (just like Ebates) will get you some cash back as well.
But here is how this one works for me, I grocery shop at Meijer, Family Fare and Costco (there are PLENTY of stores on Ibotta). You go through the app and "unlock" rebates for items you want - they sometimes have "Any Brand" rebates, often times it is to get you to try out a name brand.  Once you "unlock" your rebates - go grocery shopping. Make sure you get a paper receipt, so you can upload your receipt by taking a photo (Bonus, some stores like Meijer and Family Fare have auto receipts with your loyal card! Walmart makes it super easy by just scanning the barcode. Once you have completed this - about 24 hours you will receive your money in your Ibotta account. You can then cash out for gift cards or to PayPal once your balance hits $20 minimum. They often have a bonus to help earn money faster.
  • Tips: This one has to be done on your phone & cash out once you get to $20 don't use it as a savings account. The money is not yours till it is in your hands.
  • If you don't have an Ibotta account - Feel free to use my referral code, qocivkh, and you can get up to a $20 Welcome bonus. Sign up at https://ibotta.com/r/qocivkh

#3 Drop:
This one is another favorite - full disclosure on this one: to fully access the benefits on this one you will need to input your card information. So this one will depend on your comfort level of sharing your data.
Drop automatically gives me points every time I shop at Walmart, Walgreens, Target, Starbucks, and McDonald's with one of my linked cards. Once I get to 10,000 points I can cash out for a $10 gift card. Little to no effort on my part!
  • Tip: They have so many other ways to earn points!
  • If you don't have Drop - Feel free to use my referral code uoz2e to get $5 - no strings attached. https://b.ewd.io/code?c=uoz2e

#4 Fetch:
Full disclosure - reward level on this one is low. However, it takes very little effort to earn cashback. Take all of your grocery receipts - upload them by taking a photo. You get 25 points for a receipt - BUT some brands get you bonus points, and they do special offers. They recently did a Huggies Deal and I end up around $20 back just for purchasing diapers and wipes I needed (plus I purchased them when Meijer had a good sale - so double up the discounts). Once you get to 3,000 points you can cash out for a $3 gift card.
  • If you don't have Fetch yet  -  Enter my referral code, M8BKU at the sign-up screen, and you'll get 3,000 Fetch Points ($3.00 in points!) when you complete one receipt. Download here https://bit.ly/2Ay6caM

#5 Earny:
Full Disclosure: this is another app you will need to be comfortable sharing your credit card and/or Amazon login with.  Let me just tell you how much a LOVE Earny thou - we actually just switched credit cards to be able to get Retailer Price Protection, when are other credit card did away with it. So Earny tracks all of your purchases you make (via your email and Amazon account). They then track all the pricing, if they find it lower in the price protection policy - they will do the work for you to get money back. Of course, they take 25% of the refund. But today I received a $6.90 check from my Capital One Card for an item that decreased in price I bought a month ago. I will pocket $5.18 for doing nothing (Well sharing my data technically)

#6 Paribus:
This is another one just like Earny (However I like Earny more). I keep this one going because every once in a while Amazon will deliver my Prime package late and this app will catch it for me. They will email Amazon on my behalf, and I receive credit for it. Again little to no work for me and get a credit when something happens (That I probably didn't notice).
  • Did you know you get a credit if your Amazon Prime Package is late!
  • If you don't have it - Feel free to use my link: https://paribus.co/i/c5oFTM

#7 Receipt Hog:
I come and go with my use of this one, I use it for a while then I stop. The reward is little but the work is minimal. All you have to do is take a picture of your receipts. Any receipts. You will receive coins based on the dollar amount fo the receipt. You can then cash out the coins to a PayPal account. The work is simple, I tend to get bored with this one as it takes time to get the coins.
#8 Wikibuy:
This one is the last on my list because it is the newest to me. I am still learning the ins and outs of this particular program. I use it as a Chrome Extension - when I am shopping: Let's us JcPenny as an example. Once in my cart, Wikibuy will run ALL known promo code in about 13 seconds and give you the promo code with the highest discount. This one works better for promo codes compared to Ebates, for me. It also will tell me if I am purchasing an item at the lowest price or if it can locate the same item for a better deal. It has yet to locate me a better deal - so I am still unsure about that benefit. But promo code help alone it works well!

There are many other rebate apps I have tried and used, that I personally didn't like enough or use enough to stay in my normal rotation.

There are so many apps out there - Do you have a favorite that is not on my list?

Dinners & Meal Prep - Once a Month Meals

What is it about dinner time that the kids start to go crazy!?!? Seriously they could be just fine playing or doing something where they don't need me. The second I start to cook or while I am in the middle of cooking it all becomes chaos and they are throwing fits, at my feet crying or needing something from me. I struggle when my kids are crying or screaming. I can't think straight so therefor dinner doesn't go as planned: I burn something, I burn myself, or I miss a step and the meal is messed up. So a few months ago I was on a hunt for a better meal planning and process. I was having no luck finding something I wanted. I could visualize what I wanted but wasn't finding the right fit. Until I came a crossed Once a Month Meals. I love the idea of freezer meals, but I struggle with the hunt for recipes. As I look for a recipe and end up lost in the world on Pinterest, so easy to do - two hours later I have no recipe for dinner but a ton of home decor and organizing i

Mashed Potatoes - Freezer Prep

Writing about mashed potatoes totally seems normal to me. I love them - we had a mashed potato bar at our wedding and it was by far one of my favorite parts. They are the perfect side to most dished - you can do a lot with mashed potatoes and 75% of my family loves to eat them. They are a good filling side, however, to make good homemade mashed potatoes takes a bit more time than I have sometimes. Not that they are hard but - between peeling, washing, boiling and mashing - it takes some time when you have to keep stopping to do something for the kids. On average mashed potatoes take me almost an hour from start to finish. (That may seem like a long time, but I get pulled away a lot during the peeling process and I might be a slow potato peeler) Today in Once A Month Meals - I can a crossed making them in bulk and freezing. Then reading the comments section, someone talked about making them into mashed potatoes scoops and flash freezing them. This would be an amazing idea for m
